Request
for puja

A
puja is a special prayer ceremony. There are annual pujas and daily pujas.
People can sponsor different kind of pujas which can benefit in overcoming
obstacles / hindrances or to accumulate
merit.

Every year,
special prayer ceremonies (pujas) are performed according to a particular
date and time of the year.
After the
Tibetan New Year (Losar) in April, a special fire-puja is performed on
behalf of Dorje Naljorma (Vajrayogini)
which lasts for seven days.
In June,
a puja is performed because it is the day of the Lord Buddha’s birthday,
Enlightenment and Parinirvana. During that time we have eight days of
fasting.
This means
alternating days of only lunch or no food at all, combined with complete
silence.
In August we
celebrate the first turning of the wheel of the Dharma by Lord Buddha. In
this sermon he taught the four noble truths. This day we have a special
silence day and perform special pujas
Besides the
annual pujas there are also daily pujas that are performed every morning
from 5:30 to 7:00. People from outside the nunnery can request special
prayers. We can do prayers if one of their relatives or friends has died or
is in the hospital or when there are obstacles.
The pujas are
always performed whether there are sponsors for it or not.
